Gringo Nordic Coffee Roasters

Gringo Nordic is a curious small roastery in central Gothenburg, founded in 2018 by Johan Ekfeldt, the pioneer behind Sweden’s first specialty roastery, and his wife Pernilla. The name is more than a catchy label: it stuck after workers at Johan’s Colombian coffee farm affectionately started calling him "Gringo." Today, this family-run operation represents a new chapter, combining decades of experience with a fresh, unpretentious approach to specialty coffee.

Good Honest Coffee

Their philosophy is simple: good, honest coffee with no shortcuts. They source 100% specialty beans from individual farms and cooperatives, prioritizing quality and sustainable farming over expensive certifications. Inside the roastery, they use the planet's most energy-efficient air-flow technology to "slow roast" in small batches. This method allows them to tailor every roast, striking the perfect balance between sweetness, acidity, and body. Good everyday picks are Prime Brew for filter and Daily Espresso for espresso, both in 500 g bags.

From Soil to Cup

What sets Gringo apart is their deep connection to the soil. They co-own Finca La Tierra in Colombia, a farm where they experiment with rare varieties like Geisha and Pink Bourbon and test innovative processing methods. Owning a farm has taught them the hard realities of cultivation, fueling a "zero-compromise" passion for the craft. Whether it's a micro-lot from their own land or a bag from a partner, they ensure you never doubt their love for coffee.
