The story:
Karimikui sits in Kirinyaga at 1600 to 1700 MASL, run by the Rung'eto Farmer Cooperative Society for roughly 2,591 smallholders. This lot is graded AA, the largest screen size Kenya produces, grown from the classic SL28 and SL34 varieties and processed through a double wash. Our partners at Gringo Nordic picked it as a textbook example of what a proper Kenyan should taste like.
The taste:
Raspberry and grapefruit hit first, with redcurrant running underneath through a juicy, syrupy body. The acidity is bright and citrusy but never sharp, balanced out by a real sweetness that keeps the whole cup lively. This is a loud, unmistakably Kenyan cup, the kind built to wake you up with flavour rather than just caffeine.
The feeling:
A V60 is the classic match here, letting the grapefruit and raspberry ring out clean without muddying the body. Save it for mornings when you actually want to taste something, not just get through the motions. Kenya AA lots like this only show up once a season, so it is worth grabbing while it lasts.
