The story:
Karimikui is a washing station founded in 1953 in Ngariama, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Our partners at Nomad Coffee source from the Rung'eto Farmers Cooperative, home to more than 2,500 smallholders farming plots under one hectare. SL-28, SL-34, Batian and Ruiru-11 grow at 1700 - 1900 MASL on volcanic soil, then get the classic Kenyan washed treatment with an extra 24 hour soak.
The taste:
Black tea sets the tone, structured and a little tannic in the best way. Kumquat adds a sharp, zesty citrus kick, and apricot rounds it off with ripe, juicy sweetness. Bright acidity, tidy and clear, with a medium body and a finish that stays crisp. Classic Kenya, no apologies. It keeps shifting as it cools.
The feeling:
Go for the V60 if you want maximum clarity, or the Clever Dripper for a rounder, more forgiving cup. Both let the tea and citrus shine without turning sharp. A great pick for the morning, for fans of classic Kenyans, and for anyone who wants a filter coffee with real structure and a clean, lively finish.
