The story:
Uraga is a natural coffee from the Guji zone of Ethiopia, grown from Heirloom varieties at around 1900 m. After picking, the cherries are floated in water, then dried on raised African beds and turned regularly for an even, controlled result. Our partners at HAYB roast it light in Warsaw to protect the fruit, and the lot scores 86 points on the cupping table.
The taste:
Juicy peach opens the cup, followed by concentrated dried apricot and a clean, tea-like finish of black tea. Acidity is gentle, the body light and the sweetness easy, so the cup feels elegant and refined from start to finish. It is a classic Ethiopian profile with a delicate, tea-like backbone that lingers long after the last sip.
The feeling:
Brew it in a V60, Chemex, AeroPress or Clever Dripper to keep the tea-like finish clear and the yellow fruit in front. A lovely pick for people who enjoy tea-like coffees, calm weekend mornings and slow cups, when you want something refined that still feels comfortable and familiar. Pour a second cup while it is still warm and notice how the apricot grows.
