The story:
Our partners at DAK have bought from Marysabel Caballero and Moises Herrera for years, and this is one they particularly like for espresso. Hazel Nuts is a natural Catuaí grown at 1600 MASL around Chinacla in Marcala, Honduras. Moises dries the cherries on covered raised beds for 20 to 40 days to keep the humid weather away.
The taste:
Round and silky, with hazelnut, cacao nibs and blackberry leading the way. A touch of booziness adds depth without getting loud, and the acidity stays low so the sweetness sits front and centre. It works as a straight shot, and it is especially good with milk, where the hazelnut turns into something close to a chocolate spread.
The feeling:
Pull it in your espresso machine or brew it in a moka pot on the stove. This is for anyone who wants a daily espresso that feels cosy and round. If you chase sharp, zippy fruit, look elsewhere. If you want a cappuccino that tastes like a nutty dessert, this bag will do the job.
